Popular Post Ken Gargett
okay, i have tried twice - yesterday and today - to post these but now the site won't take my pics? what is going on. anyway, if someone can click something and make these appear, i'll fix the thread. otherwise, .... a few of the troops had a Burgundy lunch Saturday. with a few friends. theme was vosne romaneee grand cru. one of the best i have been to for ages. how often does one get to drink Henri Jayer Echezeaux in perfect condition. the 88. kicked off with a lovely blanc de blancs. Henriot. then an absolutely stellar sherry (well, sort of sherry - all very complicated). so good, i have done it for the next article for quill and pad. brilliant stuff. one of the guys threw this in. aged Hunter Semillon is truly one of the world's great wine styles and this was amazing. this was a ring in. one of my fave NZ producers from Central Otago. the group had no idea where it was from and no way was anyone picking it. but they loved it. a few are missing - blame me - but this was later in the day and a bit special, as is anything named Jayer. the chance to drink an Henri Jayer, especially a Grand Cru - this Echezeaux - from 1988, in absolutely perfect condition. it does not get much better. glorious Richebourg. goldkap JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese. 2013. just wow. more Richebourg. and more Richebourg. clos parentoux. incredible. and no doubt Henri Jayer had a hand in the making here. incredibly intense and rich Eiswein. so rare to see one, especially in a 750 ml. not a bad day.

It's a matter of converting Apple's HEIC format to the jpg format (or something similar that has support on our forum). The HEIC format is the default iPhone image format but a number of applications that aren't affiliated with Apple still don't support it. I mass convert these files. It's really no trouble to assist. 1

I hope they were worth it. back when the guys purchased them, or most of them, who knows. but today, if you had to buy them, a few hundred dollars would be an insane bargain. the Jayer is listed at US$14,000. a few of the others are pretty exy as well. but the guy would have purchased the Jayer would have paid peanuts in comparison. 22 hours ago, El Presidente said: ...that's because Rob is not a muppet...... remote control in a bucket of water. don't sell yourself short. you are a fully paid up member of the muppets. 22 hours ago, El Presidente said: good Lord John......you are a masochist. My comment was tongue-in-cheek. I should have added an LOL. Yes, I realize those are rare and top, top-tier wines.
Fugu
Some voluptuous wines for sure, Ken, but your use of that soft-focus effect, dunno, a bit excessive. 😅
