McBeardface Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 Hello good folks of FoH. I’ll reintroduce myself since I haven’t posted too much (let’s see if I can change that). I’m Garrett, currently living in Long Island City, Queens, and I’m currently sitting on my patio (with the cat) smoking a Sancho Panza Belicosos from 2020 (after having a Lusitania before that). Anyway, I had a question for the group (which may have been answered many times, but I’m going to be lazy and also use this post as an excuse to engage a little more): why are Sancho Panza bands so wonky? The logo and text are always crisp (crisp enough), but it looks like they cut the band with an uneven stamp or by hand. What’s the deal? Is this just tradition? Is someone going to call out my cigar for being fake? Let’s find out the answer together. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

You would see this on Montes, RG, Upmann etc. I'm not particularly sure of the process, but I think it will be just a case of machinery timing being out of sync with one another. i.e. a paper feed running slightly too quick for a cutting stencil. 1
ha_banos Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 "Cheap is cheap" as they say. 😁 I guess whomever is producing these types of bands is getting away with it! https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/brand/sancho-panza/bands 1

For sure! I’ve seen imperfections with every marca’s band. Just seems more noticeable/frequent with the Sancho Panzas. I’ll never complain about this - I actually love the Sancho Panza band (who’s going to start that musical group?). It’s refreshing to have a rustic band on one of my favorite cigars when all others are moving to more and more extravagance. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1

Sancho Panza standard band A is one of the last bands printed using the same method used pre-Altadis. It's a very low-tech process likely done in Cuba. You'll see the same type of off-center printing in pre-2000 Monte, RG, HU, Punch and other bands using one-color printing on a dark background. RG standard band A is the same but for some reason they've had less of an issue with centering. Those bands are on the way out anyway. The two SP regular production models are low concern but for special production they have Vrijdag print the SP bands and they're much more polished. Unless there's a brand revamp I doubt they'll move off of standard band A for the NP and Beli. Probably the two lowest priority long filler cigars in the HSA portfolio.

Very unique flavors compared to other marques. Wish I had about 10 boxes. But not at current pricing.

Despite being into CC for 7 or 8 years, only learned how enjoyable they were post price increases. Haven’t stopped kicking myself for not buying more boxes in the before time. Would be great if they could put em’ in a 10 count box….a little easier to tell myself that the cost isn’t out of reach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
