American Airlines has actually assigned staff to scrutinizing the travel and activities of people who bought these passes looking for excuses to cancel them. The amazing thing is under the term of the pass you even get frequent flyer miles.  In 2007, during a period of financial instability for the airline, American Airlines assigned a "revenue integrity unit" to investigate AAirpass holders. The airline's investigators concluded that two AAirpass holders, Steven Rothstein and Jacques Vroom, were costing the airline more than $1 million annually. Both had their passes cancelled for “fraudulent use” (which in one case meant befriending strangers at the airport and upgrading them to first class as a companion). Stay classy AA!

I'd love to see the TOS for that deal.
