BrightonCorgi Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 Anyone here rely on Sonos for their home audio system? Sonos updated their software and now users are unable to create or edit a queue of music. I use Tidal for audio streaming and could select an artist and play "top tracks". This had always played one song and then the next. Now, with their new UI, Sonos app only plays one song and that's it. Cannot play playlists... When going to their customer support portal, it says "Sonos will release queue management in the up coming weeks..." WTF? How do you release a whole new UI and the most basic function is left out?

I’m a Tidal user as well, into a 2 channel stereo rig. Sonos UI did not need updating. A friend's friend is sponsored by Sonos. His agent gave us a check out code for like 15% or 20% off at the time years ago. I bought the playbar, sub, and two of the big speakers. Flexion floor stand for one and wall stand for the other. You?
jazzboypro Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I have the Sonos Roam 2, Sonos 5 and Sonos ARC soundbar. On both speakers I mostly stream from SiriusXM, Spotify or from my NAS. I've been happy so far.

Sorry, no Sonos here. Roon/Tidal, Qobuz, DAC/Streamer, Turntable to tube amp/pre-amp to magnepan speakers. And a pair of subs...whew!

Companies still struggle with software. The Spotify model was never a model. Just a snapshot of a journey. Banks etc need DORA because they have too many outages. Google couldn't manage volume on grouped speakers because they Sonos lawyers got there first. It's just a mess. And now AI our saviour is just gobbling up all the electricity on the planet. We're basically doomed and you're worried about having to press play next?
loose_axle Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 I have a Sonos Home 1. Interacts with the home wifi whimsically and isn't overly reliable. Fortunately I have a large cd and vinyl collection which runs off a Rega vinyl and Marantz cd player into a Yamaha amplifier and custom speakers and subwoofer setup. Much more reliable.

The same happened when they changed controller software within the device. Many users couldn't get the devices to initialize. Took many hours to finagle the devices to recognize and work. They have sub-par software developers or lousy software development cycle.

PigFish Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 I have a Sonos sound bar and sub. I got it only for the tv as that is what it is good for. It sounds better than the tv but it does not replace a couple of good speakers and a sub for music. That being said I do cast to it all the time from my phone! Sonos is better than a boom box but not my KLHs. But if a Ian just roaming around downstairs it does the trick.
joeypots Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 I have lots of Sonos speakers and an amp that powers an old pair of Klipsch speakers. I like the products very much. The updated app is terrible. For me, feature creep is the bane of lots of apps and Sonos needs to do a lot of work on the recent update. The fact that most Sonos is WiFi and not Bluetooth driven is a game changer. I’ve had bad luck running Bluetooth speakers in my home. 1
BrightonCorgi Posted June 7, 2024 Author Posted June 7, 2024 I have a hunch they left the queue management out on purpose to promote their Sonos radio channels instead. If I want to listen to continuous music, my only option basically is radio channels (be theirs of someone else). I had a Plex connection to a friend's massive database. Need to re-authenticate.
