Pol Roger

Tattinger

Cooks if she’s ugly and I really don’t care. 😳

Cigar pairings go in the same order as the champagne. Not hard to figure out.

Cohiba

Montecristo

Guantanamera because if you’re at the cooks level of champagne, who cares.

1. Having sampled a wide variety of champagne, especially during the infamous Covid-19 lockdown era (where Napoleon's famous quote was ever so pertinent, "I drink champagne when I win, to celebrate...and I drink champagne when I lose, to console myself."), I prefer lighter, citrus-y or fruity types rather than heavier examples on the palate. (E.g. the ones that taste 'bread-y.') In summary, even though eight grape varieties are permitted to be used in the manufacture of champagne, such as Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Petit Meslier, Arbane and in 2021 the addition of Voltis, in reality 99% of champagne is made of a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir. So, I tend to favour champagnes that has more notable Chardonnay, because they tend to be lighter, for me.

2. My three favourite brands are Lanson, Taittinger and Pol Roger.

3. I pair champagne with any cigar. Literally anything. In Australia, in recent times the Hot Sauce company Frank's RedHot has been conducting a strong advertising campaign against market leader, Tabasco by claiming that their product "goes on anything!" Champagne is like that, it goes with any cigar...trust me!
