Bolivar Coronas Extra POS MAY 07 (XNY23)

This is my second stick from a cab of Boli CE. I obtained a fiver from a BOTL and honestly didn't know what to expect when I purchased them, as it was mainly a blind buy. After my first one I was shocked at how well they were smoking and how much strength was still left in a cigar that was 15+ years old. Figured xmas break was as good of time as any to try out another.

Straight cut was the choice and it didn't let me down. Draw is great and the smoke was plenty. A few minutes into the cigar and the flavors start to hit; cedar, hints of cream, and notes of earthiness are what stand out to me.

The earthiness is the most dominant tone (much like my previous example) but the hints of cream that jump in and out are what really makes this cigar so dang enjoyable. There aren't many transitions going on; but I'm honestly okay with that. It's doing what it does well. Towards the end of this third some leather jumps in which ramps up the intensity a notch. Not too much, still overall a medium smoke.

Still going smoothly. Leather has jumped in more now and the creamy hits are more or less gone. Medium plus as I approach the band. It doesn't lose its form but there are some hits of pepper and spice coming in now. I decide to leave it as I've gotten what I wanted from this stick. An awesome stick all in all.

The Bolivar I've smoked in recent years doesn't seem to have the same profile as this aged example. (beyond the fact that it's aged). I'm not sure if the blend has changed in the past ten years or so. Possibly it's just the fact that this a discontinued vitola and thus this blend just isn't used anymore. Regardless, I wish I had more sticks that hit like this one. It would certainly be a staple in my rotation. 94/100

I had the chance to buy the remaining cab from the guy at the time....definitely wish I would have.
