GVan Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 Even a more interesting phenomena is if you are right of center - you think you hear everyone else's comments as left of center and if you are leaning left of center - you tend to hear everyone else's comments as right of center. Who the heck can even begin to identify what "center" is anymore ... 1

I learned from some fellow members here, that Hitler was actually just a massive commie all along...........who knew? I feel really sorry for all the education departments in Germany, France, England that have to pulp and rewrite their history books, what an absolute schoolboy error! In all seriousness...and as many have pointed out already. "The centre" is a moving feast, and resides in a different position all over the world. I think it's good that it's constantly flux, as it forces everyone to keep on challenging each others, and their own opinions. 2
Popular Post Webbo Posted November 9, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 9, 2023 I laugh when I hear the description of the left in the US as communists (and confusingly sometimes facists, though I assume this is just a name calling exercise without real understanding). If you compared the Democrats to the Labour Party in the UK I think many of our stateside friends would be shocked. Generally the Dems are much closer policy wise to our UK “right wing” party the conservatives (although some of the more extreme nutters here are currently saying hold my beer. ) What I cannot stand though is this obsession in many western countries (UK included) to treat politics and political parties as football teams who you support blindly and the oppositions defeat is your victory. Madness. Zero sum games usually have an outcome of zero. 5
