I was reading the El Hoze post on FOH Daily Smoke (great thread by the way ) and by coincidence I received an email Monday on the Montecristo 80th asking two questions:

1. Where I thought they were at now in terms of smoking experience

2. How I thought they would age in the next 5 years.

The writer was a little underwhelmed in his first 4 sticks from the box and was wondering whether to flick the remainder and simply buy a box (+change) on some very good 2022 /23 Montecristo Number 2.

For those who have Monte 80th in their collection....your experience and advice?

I will post my reply by the end of the week. I would love your thoughts.

Based on my experience, the longer you wait the more subtle the taste and body. I have smoked a bunch of these from the original release, and recently they felt more bland than before 😅

I agree with @Adisaputra.  These seem to have mellowed out to me.  If you want a premium experience, buy the expensive (but not crazy) Leyenda.  I think I'm enjoying those just as much, if not more, than the 80th.  It's been about 6 months since I've had an 80th tho.

No clue but they better be awesome.

My last 80th was pretty earthy and blandish to be honest. That was over a year ago. See if I can get time to bust out another soon to check in

I'm at an interesting inflection point. I had one few years ago. Lovely. Milder than I expected but enough flavour and lovely aroma. I'm sitting on 1 box. Current pricing leans toward sell. But enjoyed it a lot. Don't know what to do. Bought as an occasion cigar... YOLO...

I’ll take a box of Leyenda all day long. But that’s just my view.

Agree here. Leyenda to me is a better cigar. Deeper/richer, more satisfying and appear to hold that richness.

My 80th Anny's have been drifting. Of concern is that none that I am smoking in the last 6 months have been as good as what I was smoking 2 years ago. Same boxes.

That’s too bad. I will smoke my only one in a few days for my 15th wedding anniversary and check back in.

I have a box of Leyenda and they have all been outstanding!! Rich and full on monte!
