The Department of Energy has defended its plan to introduce new requirements for ceiling fans, insisting that they would save households energy.

The Energy Department believes ceiling fans which comply with the new rules would save households about $39 over their lifespan - a saving of 40 percent - and cost customers around $10 more for each fan.

Total BS. The next administration will hopefully reverse all this nonsense. Did you hear they are going to try to limit personal beer consumption next? Two beers per week. What about cigars?!
