Hello fellow FOHers!

We made it to the FINALE for the FOH Top 5 Tastiest Cigars of 2022. During this study, we are looking to gather the tastiest regular production Cuban cigars that your palate has loved experiencing from 2022! We have decided to only vote on Global & Value Cuban Brands this time around. I ask that you take the bias out of your votes for each marca, and judge only by your taste buds. Don’t factor in the price, smoke quality, or even consistency (all aspects aside). Taste is a very subjective attribute of cigars and we are all drawn toward our personal preferences. We all have our own sides of the spectrum, from chocolate to leather and pepper to brioche. We are looking for what is the best (vitola) to YOU. Now that each poll has finished, the 21 winners (changed it to top 7 from each group) will enter the Cream of the Crop finale. Each member will again vote for their Top 5 from the winners circle, and we will crown the FOH Top 5 Tastiest Cigars of 2022!

The goal of this ranking system is to find what the general consensus of FOH is for the tastiest Cuban stogies of 2022! I am curious to see where we all trend, solely based on the topic of taste. We might have more in common than we all thought, in this beautiful and vast world of Cuban cigars!

May the best cigars WIN!

Just to clarify this poll is for cigars with box codes of 2022 or vitolas we enjoyed the most in 2022?

Dealers choice, as long as it is a cigar you enjoyed in 2022 👍

Wow, mag 46 over Sir Winnies? Hard disagree.

I figured d4 and punch would be in tops.

I think theres a bias toward more readily available vitolas. I didn’t get a chance to smoke several ones off this list.

Were there no JL#2 with 2022 box codes?

I never added any other brands outside of the Global and Value Brands in order to keep the poll and posts to a minimum. I know it means that not ever standout was captured, but I thought it would still allow for an effective poll within FOH.

I wonder if you are correct on that, because I didn’t know if it could be attributed to that or if it was that a majority of members enjoy certain vitolas more often than others?

I was surprised as well. It is really evening out now though, I am very curious to see where we end!

Its tough to tell for sure. I just suspect it because several of those vitolas have rarely popped up and if they did the price was well over msrp. So the sticks more readily available will get more votes.

@Tunkat92 Out of curiosity why would some vitolas be more readily available that others? Consumer demand? Ease to manufacture one versus the other? Different portions of the crop are required?

I’m no expert on that. I’m just basing what I said off of what I saw available last year and previous years as well. I would think demand is a big factor, but I could see all those factors being at play.

That makes sense, very interesting indeed. 🤔

Okay — Tastiest of the 2022 Global and Value. I also would have added the JL No. 2.

I appreciate the feedback 👍 next time I will make some adjustments.

While I understand how the vote whittled this down, there are definitely a few lacking here that I would have put higher than a few of my selections.

Shout out to the JL2, Monte Edmundo, and Connie 1.

Hearing quite the love for JL2, I guess I have to get some to try them myself!

It's decadence dressed in a blue collar getup. Not the most complex, but the notes of citrus peel, chocolate and tobacco are quite a unique blend and that's been really prominent in the 20/2122s.

I'm surprised there isn't really a stand out cigar. Seems fairly even across the board

I was thinking the same thing!

IMO, many of our responses were limited by the list and by the preceding lists.  The above list (by nature of how it was created, but with no disrespect to the creator(s), made it impossible for me to provide a meaningful response.  For example, if we were to respond with our best cigars smoked in 2022 (regardless of when they were boxed), then my best simply were not on the list above (and none of those listed came close).  More challenging for me (and perhaps "bad" on me), I have never smoked a CC that was actually boxed in 2022, so I cannot vote for any "best of's" in that regard either.  (I have several 2022 boxes, but my practice is to hold for at least a year.)

Please know that I generally appreciate all "review" postings for cigars as I welcome learning from them (as do we all, no doubt), which is a principal reason for us all to appreciate FOH.  I just could not participate meaningfully in this thread due to the parameters as defined.

I hope that makes sense, and also hope that comes across as positively as meant.  It seemed to be an almost Herculean task as the set of lists were attempted to be laid out, ...but maybe I'm over complicating it all.  :)

All the best,
