It stars Emilio Estevez, Paul Gleason, Anthony Michael Hall, Judd Nelson, Molly Ringwald, and Ally Sheedy. The film tells the story of five teenagers from different high school cliques who serve a Saturday detention overseen by their authoritarian vice-principal. The Breakfast Club premiered in Los Angeles on February 7, 1985, and was theatrically released by Universal Pictures on February 15, 1985. It grossed $51.5 million against a $1 million budget, and earned acclaim from critics, who consider it to be one of Hughes's most memorable and recognizable works. The media subsequently referred to the film's five main actors as members of a group called the "Brat Pack". In 2015, the film was digitally remastered and was re-screened in 430 theaters in celebration of its 30th anniversary. In 2016, The Breakfast Club was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" Over to you... How do you rate it? Favourite scenes? Best moments?... etc, and so on... post 'em up!! Give us your score out of 10! 2
Popular Post JohnS Posted November 1, 2022 Popular Post Posted November 1, 2022 When it first came out in the 80s, I felt very connected by this movie as obviously I was a teenager. These days, I still very much enjoy this film but I can't see the actors in it as 'young and upcoming' anymore because a lot has happened in their professional careers since. Paul Gleason, who is great as the Vice Principal in this film, was a great character actor and I felt he got a little typecast in similar roles after his great performance. I can't believe it's been sixteen years since he has passed. Much missed! All in all, in my view, a staple of the teen classic films of the 80s (including Sixteen Candles, Ferris Bueller's Day Off etc.) and whether they liked it or not, Simple Minds' song, "Don't You (Forget About Me)" will be forever linked to this film. 10 out of 10. This is a classic film. 5
Chucko8 Posted November 1, 2022 Posted November 1, 2022 Was without a doubt one of the go to movies back in the teen years. 2
