Popular Post cookj1 Posted October 14, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 14, 2022 I have five Punch Super Robustos left and they’ve been begging me to try one for ages. I grabbed one, got comfy, fired it up, and logged on to FOH to find that it’s Punch/Por Larranaga review weekend. It’s Friday night and the sun is perfect. What a score! This is my first Punch Super Robusto in over 10 years. It’s been so long since I’ve had one that I can’t remember when I last smoked one. The burn is perfect and I’m getting a great draw from this cigar. There isn’t a huge amount of smoke, but it’s very adequate. The aroma of the smoke is absolutely mesmerizing; it’s the highlight of the cigar, for certain. The flavors remind me of a cup of Milo. There’s some nice cream and cocoa malt. There’s a nice cedar woodiness too. These flavors are more pronounced in the second half of the cigar, as one would expect. The tobacco is well aged and I’m getting a perfectly balanced mild-medium smoke. It started quite mild and has smoked to a more medium flavor. The strength is more full, however. it’s incredibly smooth and too easy to smoke. I want this to last! I’m into the last half and I struggle to get the first band off as there’s too much glue. Some things never change! There’s the first development of a possible lighter touch up required. I’ll monitor that and cross my fingers that the burn will rectify that before a lighter has to. Et voila! The burn came through without needing intervention! I’m into the final third and she’s evolved into an even more complex cigar. I’m getting some mild tannins reminiscent of a good black tea. While thoroughly enjoying this cigar, I logged on to www.cigars-review.org and see that I reviewed this cigar back in 2008 (probably the last time I smoked one). Here’s my review for reference: Review #5: This is one of the best Cubans I have smoked in months. This was pure pleasure. The draw was so perfect. Did Habanos S.A. get the best rollers for this release? There were some slight burn problems but I was sitting on a drafty patio that was not conducive to cigar smoking. I can only imagine how good these will get with age. I only hope that these make it into regular production. Something this good should be produced much more frequently. Buy whatever you can get your hands on and enjoy the intense and mesmorizing smoke. You will not be disappointed. - Submitted by cookj1 on April 7, 2008 I’m glad to see I’ve consistently enjoyed this cigar! 😂 After an hour of smoking, I can confirm that this has aged well and it was a delightful cigar. I’ll maintain the 5/5 review and give it a proper score of 94/100. I need to leave some room for a better score with even more age. …hopefully sooner than in another 14 years. 🙃 Smoke in good health brothers. 14
Chucko8 Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Nice one buddy, what a treat to pull out for the review. Great pictures also.
Digi Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Good stuff, thanks for sharing! Down to the back half of my last 50 cab of these guys. Will be sad to see them go but I think they’re old enough at this point.
