Popular Post MrBirdman Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 In the midst of all their incompetence and corruption, they at least got this right - though I’m reminded of the saying “even a broken clock is right twice a day.” With all that is going wrong there, it’s sad that this is the best they can offer. But gay Cubans are enduring life in Cuba too, and have at least had a right acknowledged rather than another right denied. Interesting development given how culturally conservative most of Latin America is. (I have no idea whether this was a legitimately conducted referendum; it ended up 70%-30%, which is apparently less lopsided than usual.) https://apnews.com/article/religion-cuba-caribbean-gay-rights-0576a6d3583959d9252e252964d152bb 7
Popular Post Corylax18 Posted September 27, 2022 Popular Post Posted September 27, 2022 I believe its 100% legit. I watched Mariela Castro's final speech to parliament during my last trip. She had people in tears and received a standing ovation from parliament when she finished. Diaz Canel was the first on his feet. Mariela Castro's son (Raul's Grandson) is Gay, it isn't spoken about much, but its true. Also not referenced much is Diaz Canel's open minded policy's working in local government. He's also been open with his support of it since he was "elected". His run is nearing its end, so it will probably end up being what he's recognized most for. God knows the country hasn't progressed anywhere else. 5
