Montecristo #4 AUT JUN 16 (FRW)

Brought this stick with me on a service call visit to Cody, Wyoming (I reside in Idaho).

Beautiful mahogany color on this Monte. Good oils considering it’s now 6 yrs old. Thought it might have mellowed with time, boy was I wrong. 
Prelight draw had a firm resistance, cocoa powder and wood.

On lighting that Cuban twang was up front, with strong espresso, no chocolate at all. After the first 1/2 inch the twang disappeared, only to return briefly now and then. The dark coffee receded slightly but never left at all. Chocolate entered the picture, sometimes on the edges, sometimes fuller. Smoke output was brilliant. Burn wavered occasionally, but that may be due to smoking with the window down in my service van. There was a bit of caramel flicking in and out, mostly prominent in the mid-third.

There wasn’t too much complexity, but it was full bodied and full flavored. If all the remaining sticks in this box are similar, I would say they have another 3-5 yrs to settle down. I enjoyed thoroughly, give it a solid 88/100.

Can't say that I've found Montes improve that much with the years.  Actually, quite the opposite.  The Monte 4 especially so since it's a little guy.  You find that 9-11 years works on the 4's?

I find all cigars mellow with enough time. This one was quite strong for its age, much more like a 0-2 yr old.
