Hammer Smokin' Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 A great brother of the leaf (locally here in Canada) just offered me a half box (12 cigars) of Bolivar Super Coronas LE 2014. With recent cigar price increases I jumped on it immediately as the cost was pretty fair. Traditionally I've not been a huge fan of Bolivar, mainly because I'd get knocked on my arse when I smoked them. They are UME DIC 14. I figured with almost 8 years of age they should have mellowed out a bit? Anyone have any info on these? (yes I did a search here but only found two threads and both 8 years old). I'll be smoking them regardless, but curious what I should expect? Were these popular when released? One thread on here mentioned that these "should be great with age". I'm truly fortunate to even be offered them - so I'm super excited about that! Thanks FOHcigars. 1
Bijan Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Here's @JohnS's review from late 2020: Edit: November 21st in that thread 3
NSXCIGAR Posted July 5, 2022 Posted July 5, 2022 Super Coronas were well received on release. I had a few and thought they were good. I can't really recall them vs. the Soberanos as it was more than a few years ago but they certainly weren't duds by any stretch. 2
Hammer Smokin' Posted July 5, 2022 Author Posted July 5, 2022 Thanks Gents. I'll make sure to post a review once they arrive and acclimatize for a bit. 2
Popular Post Hammer Smokin' Posted July 6, 2022 Author Popular Post Posted July 6, 2022 They arrived today....and smell as amazing as any cuban cigar I've ever received. What a treat! Down for a nap....but will be smoking one shortly. It was a quick two day delivery. Shouldn't take too long 5
Popular Post Hammer Smokin' Posted August 16, 2022 Author Popular Post Posted August 16, 2022 As we talk about reduction in strength and power, this cigar sure didn't calm any. Smoked this the other night. Knocked me flat on my butt. Didn't finish the final 1/4. Reminded me why I don't smoke Bolivar, lol. Strong flavours and even stronger nicotine. The wrapper was also thick and burnt a bit wonky. Leather and earth is what I was able to pull from the flavour. Will give another one a-go in a few months. 5
