FOH 2022 LE Custom Guayabera

Steve and I have been working on this project for the past 6 months. 

 

Now I love a great guayabera. Unfortunately, there are very few great guayabera's. 

 

So Steve and I we reached out to one of the best in the business. Miami local and guayabera guru..... Joe Jenovese. 

 

Joe’s a great guy and the guayabera is something deeply ingrained in his personal culture and lifestyle. A first generation Cuban-American born and raised in Miami, the guayabera was an ever-present in his upbringing, as a boy his mother used to buy him a guayabera every time they went on holiday and his Grandpa “Cuba” never wore anything else. 

After a career as a graphic designer and a retail manager, in 2010 Joe began planning to realize his passion of owning his own business. 3 years later he achieved that goal by starting Yabera, a venture that’s aim was to modernize the traditional guayabera. As Joe says: 

“Guayaberas are a classic… but it was time for an update.”

So we wanted a modern guayabera that you didn't have to worry about creasing. We wanted a modern guayabera that you could order in "fitted" or "relaxed" cuts.

• Custom FOH Embroidery

Steve and I then got to work on the design for the 2022 FOH Edicion. 

There will be a limited customised run and these will be hand made over a 45 day period. Orders will be taken next week with delivery expected (shipping from Miami) in May.  Worldwide shipping.

This is awesome. I actually have Two Y. A. Bera Guayabera's already! They are very high quality, much higher quality than those I've purchased in Cuba, and they fit really well. I'm going to be on an airplane when the link goes live, but I hope I can still grab one of these!

I will make sure you get one mate. I love the quality also. 

I am a medium in their modern fit sizing. I am 5:11 and 81.5 kg / 180lb /   104 cm/ 40 inch chest. 

Cory, to help out the guys here, what sizing do you take?

Ya, I feel like I fall in between the Large and XL but I like the idea of the “relaxed” fit, so will probably go with the XL.

I'm 6' 3" about 175lbs/80kg with a 38"/96 CM chest. I have a Large and Medium in the Modern Fit.

I purchased the Large first, but the Medium is a better fit for me. Give me a minute, I'll try to find a photo or two of me wearing the Large size.

Nice! Curious on the sizing myself, but easier to take in something on the large side.

A Few photos of me below in the large. The Large/medium ar similar in length, but the Medium is much more "fitted", I have a back pack on in a couple of the photos, so its hard to tell, but there is more fabric around the waste (on the large) than I need. I think Medium is going to be the right size for a lot of guys, but the large covers a lot of ground, they're very well fit/tailored.  Again I'm 6' 3" about 175lbs/80kg with a 38"/96 cm chest.

The large was a tad roomy for me. I have a 33 inch waste. Medium is perfect.

Next time you are playing with your nipples, take a chest measurement making sure the tape / string/rope covers the nipples.   Take off your nipple tassles first. 👍

Belly measurement over the belly button. If that measurement is getting close to your chest measurement......go up a size

Looking at Cory's pics, if you're 6'3" tall and it hangs down below your hips, I'm thinking that this is gonna look like a dress on me!

Never tried a guayabera before, but the design is fantastic, kudos gents. I may have to give one a shot.

So…who did invent this shirt, the Cubans or the Mexicans? I thought I recall hearing somewhere that there is ongoing debate on this matter?
