Cuban QC issues

I have a question/comment regarding Cuban “quality control”. I have heard that Cuba, being Cuba, often makes QC mistakes. Here is what happened recently. I was wondering your thoughts. Received a box of Punch 48. They are rolled at RAT, same as San Cristobal. So, received a box of P48, but with San Cristobal bands. I know that the cigars are not SC because they don’t not make that size. Heard from the vendor who said they heard from Habanaos SA who said that a batch was done this way by mistake. Anyone have any similar stories. Initially, I didn’t know what to make of it.

You received a response from HSA? Interesting...

Yes, they are likely Punch 48s with SC bands. It happens. RAT is La Corona and 90%+ of SC is rolled there and a lot of Punch as well.

In relation to the bands issue.....they like to do it a couple of times a year simply to mind screw consumers and distributors.

The last 7 of my Cuban cigars have been plugged or really tight. I store at 62rh. Before that I had no issues with 15 cigars in a row. It's Cuban roulette. Big reason I smoke a lot of non Cubans as well. I know what I'm gonna get every time. With that being said, when 50 % of Habanos was acquired back in the early 2000's, new quality control standards were implemented. So the quality control has gotten better. I still chase the twang and unique aroma of Cuban tobacco and with tools like the perfect draw, all of my cigars are capable of smoking.

You won the lotto. Those are SC Cuba regionals. Correct band, wrong double band. Should be Cuba regional. Sell em for 350

How did I win the lotto? Do you all think I ultimately received something other than mis-banded P48? I was told from the vendor that they were P48 with SC bands. I don’t know. You all think they could be something different?

First, I would get a vendor that inspects boxes.

Unless he knew which it sounds like he might have...in that case definitely get a new vendor.

And if your vendor claims to be speaking to HSA get a new vendor. 

Bottom line: get a new vendor.

Dodgy boxes are returned back to HSA if spotted by vendor normally? Or at least returned to regional importer?

sometimes a photo is taken and sent to the distributor for their reference. 

Returning abnormal habanos boxes?

I couln't afford the freight
