Popular Post riderpride Posted January 8, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 8, 2022 New Years is about forgiveness and moving on, so I chose to smoke my arch enemy as the first of the year. I've never understood this cigar, though Allones has never been one of my favorites. It felt like it had raw potential but truth be told, the lack of progress completely turned me off of ELs. Tonight it's being paired with Four Roses SiB which I hope will bring out the dark fruits of Allones Appearance is great with the retro band - downside is the colours belong to the NY Jets Cold draw is firm despite 64rh. Raisin toast without the cinnamon 1/3 Burst of pepper on the first puff, then settled into dark fruit and pepper with notes of wet cardboard 2/3 The fruit is now predominantly raisin with pepper and more wet cardboard 3/3 Pepper and raisins, though sweeter with a pleasant mouth feel. Mint and citrus rind aftertaste. Did I mention cardboard? The only other cigar that had these flavors was the LFD Dbl ligero chisel maduro, but this is less peppery and way less nicotine punch. Great construction and performance though the ash never felt firm Final thoughts - gone is the punch of youth. I can notice the difference the last 10 years has made, but feels like no progression and it failed to deliver on its developmental promise. Final score 85 The Four Roses was fantastic btw. Cheers! 9
coug28 Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 One of the cigars I wish I’d went deep on… so I could sell all of em on BR 10 years later and make a killing. Also never liked this cigar. No issue moving em on secondary market though…and for a hefty profit. 1

Chas.Alpha Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 It must be said, for a cigar that disappointed you it looks like you needed a roach clip to finish it! That's dedication!!! 😀 3
cigaraholic Posted January 8, 2022 Posted January 8, 2022 This cigar has produced more penthouse and outhouse reviews than any cigar I can remember. I’m inclined to believe some factories got good batches of tobacco to work with and some got shit. I bought 2 boxes, MLO AGO11 that was fantastic and TAU SEP11 that I’m smoking now which is smoking great, all fruitcake, no pepper no ashtray. Sorry you got a crap box!

Glad to hear you've had luck with them! Cheers
