Popular Post ChangBang Posted January 2, 2022 Popular Post Posted January 2, 2022 First cigar of 2022 and hoping it's a good one! Smoking a Siglo IV tonight! Honestly, my Utah snowboarding trip was supposed to be through tonight so I didn't plan on this cigar so no drybox. Give it a cut and getting a bit more resistance than I'd prefer. Still get a draw so we'll give it a light and see how it goes. Still on the champagne kick and am pairing this cigar with a Gloria Ferrer Anniversary Cuvee 2011 - I bought this recently for $15 so not sure if Costco was selling an old vintage or this is what it is? It is not up to par with the Kirkland or the Pol Roger I had the other night. Flavors are more muted with a light green apple flavor. 1 - Starts off as a lemongrass which is what I've experienced with my Cohibas so far...I really like it. After about an inch in, I start getting a nice sweetness to it and a bready/pastry character. The lemon gets to a lemon rind sweetbread with that touch of bitterness of the rind. Retro is smooth and pleasant. Towards the end of the first third, it goes back to a lemongrass note. 2 - 2nd third brings me to a sweet dessert-y bready note. I can't pinpoint the pastry, but it is really nice! Lemon comes back with a sweetness that I can only describe as a lemon hard candy...lemonhead? Only lasts a few puffs before going into a lemon sweet bread. 3 - I'm now getting a tea note...black tea with lemon that is unsweetened? After that goes to that lemon pastry note. Lemon starts to fade and I'm left with a dark bready note. Maybe I'm smoking a little fast and slow it down...lemon comes back. Cigar finished with a lemon dark bread tobacco flavor. Overall - 8/10 This was an outstanding cigar that changed and kept my interest with the evolution of flavors! I still prefer the Siglo III, but this is a treat and I'm glad this was my first cigar of 2022! 18
Nevrknow Posted January 2, 2022 Posted January 2, 2022 I’m with you on the lll’s. They really hit a sweet spot for me. Even my aged lV’s seem not quite there yet. And by aged I mean 2017 so take that for what it’s worth. 1

Bijan Posted January 3, 2022 Posted January 3, 2022 Siglo IV might be my favourite Siglo series Cohiba. Even though I smoke more II and III and I like the II, III and V vitolas a lot, I find the blend works really well in a Corona Gorda vitola. Anyways Siglo IV are kind of flying under the radar, which is weird for a Cohiba. 3
GoodStix Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 I was wondering about that. The IV doesn't seem to be mentioned much in the forum, and the last time it was reviewed by Rob and Ken was 11 years ago. Is the IV not much enjoyed? I like the vitola. But I've only smoked the IV a few times (younger, with mixed results) so I'm not sure whether to buy more (and better age them) in future or not. Thoughts please?

Small sample size as I only have one box, but the 4 out of my SOU NOV 2019 box have all been fantastic 2
ChangBang Posted January 23, 2022 Author Posted January 23, 2022 Yea I noticed that the IV doesn't get too much attention. The video reviews seems to focus on more premium cohiba's having a bunch of VI, CoRo, espy, and lancero reviews, which is disappointing since they're harder to get and more pricey. I usually skip over those reviews since there are like 10 reviews of those compared to 1 review of the siglo 3s - 5s( didnt include 1 and 2's due to Ken's bitching that the cigar is over in 2 puffs lol) Only 5 months earlier but here's my Aug 2021 review. Spoiler - I enjoyed it 😂
GoodStix Posted January 23, 2022 Posted January 23, 2022 Thank you both. And ChangBang thanks for the reviews.
