Popular Post El Presidente Posted December 20, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 20, 2021 Peso cigars are not really memorable although I enjoy the buying experience and handing them out blind and bandless to the lads after a long night. I tell them they are from Robaina's farm. I recall 10 minutes into the last Peso cigar, Glen turned to me and said "Robaina should sell now" I am not a huge fan. el credito is probably the best of them. 6
Corylax18 Posted December 21, 2021 Posted December 21, 2021 Looks like the same Band Color/Font and Design as the Bouzo's. I've had some peso cigars really surprise me. Most don't though. Haha I wonder if there is really any difference between the Brands/Marca's or if they're all just mixed, chopped, scrap.
Popular Post nKostyan Posted December 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 21, 2021 I did an experiment on the aging of "pesos": I bought a pack of each brand, froze it, then put it in an airtight container with boveda 69 for 2 years. After that, there was testing. Most of the brands have lost their taste, but the taste of cardboard characteristic of Quintero only remains. I gave all the cigars to a teammate who smokes them for nicotine instead of cigarettes a few sticks a day. I kept only a pack of Selectos for myself - they are woody-creamy, very close to Sancho Panza. If these cigars are qualitatively rolled, then they are quite possible to smoke. A pack costs 15-20$, but now there is a shortage on the island, so Cubans stopped carrying them to us. 7
Popular Post Nino Posted December 21, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 21, 2021 Some, very few, are OK. Most are too harsh, made of Picadura or scraps. PS : The cigar is El Surco which translates roughly to The Groove... 4 1
Popular Post JohnnyO Posted December 23, 2021 Popular Post Posted December 23, 2021 If you age these 2 years you might be surprised at the results. The unfortunate part is a lot of these are claro and you won't know that until you open it. The local sellers don't like you to open all of their bundles just to select one. For me the best results have been with the darker shaded wrappers. I brought back some El Surco's last week that were dark and had an intoxicating smell. These used to sell in the bodegas at 1 CUP, the Santeros used to re-sell them at 2 CUP. Now they are selling 25 CUP, at 70:1 that's about 36 cents US. Kingantz did a classic review at Cigarpass a few years ago with some Peso cigars I sent him that had about 2 years on them. Right now these are very hard to find and pricey for what they used to be. JohnnyO Posted December 23, 2021 Posted December 23, 2021 Kingantz review at Cigarpass was an El Credito, lots of nice pics. John

The difference in any of the marcas are what region/factory the leaf came from. There is a big difference in between all of them. John 1
