On a special few cigars, certainly in recent years on double coronas, It’s hard to separate the cigar from the hype. Is it scarcity or are you truly smoking something great and unique?  For me, it’s easy when it comes to the Lusi. They are one of my favorites and this July 2019 box is no different. 

Opening a box of these with a few years of age is a treat.  I love being greeted with the warm hay aroma. I dry boxed for a day before lighting up and had no burn or draw issues at all. Perfect construction on these. 
 

She started off low to medium body with a nice warm cinnamon and a bit of crisp fruit quality or sweet pepper. The cinnamon evolved into ground pepper and crisp fruit into a smooth rich leather with great smoke output for a solid 100 minutes.

Great code for Lusis, and yes the hype is well deserved. My theory is that everyone rolling these knows they mostly get smoked by people who really like cigars. Oh and also, Partagas doesn't dilute the brand with too many 'premium' offerings. So your Lusis and E2s are pretty much the top of the pile (and the D4s and Shorts can be spectacular too).

It's the acronym for the current cigar review contest.  You can see the contest details in the waterhole pinned near the top of the postings.  If you enter the review contest, you start a topic that includes the contest acronym so the admin knows you intend to be part of the contest.

Well said. Cuban double coronas rarely disappoint me. That reminds me. I need to start hunting down a box of HdM. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen them.
