Fosgate Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Had to evacuate yesterday. Fire passed within 300meters of the house. Looking at where it started, wind and path, I don't know how it missed us. Cell Phones evac notices went off and within minutes had police knocking on the door telling us we have 20 minutes to get out. I grabbed important paperwork, went through video of all our possessions and I stopped in front of my 2 wine-a-doors stuffed with Cubans. Police were back telling us to get out now and had to leave the stogies behind. Luckily it missed us and an agent for my company an hour away was here with his fire crew running a bulldozer and burning the fuel between us and the fire. I talked my way past the blockade later after offering to setup beds, toiletries and food to rotate firefighters in my house to rest, get something to eat and get back out. Response was amazing. We had crews driving in from all over with a helicopter within an hour and 3 large air tankers making runs on the fire. Helo and tanker were making runs all day today and we had a flareup tonight we were watching from my back deck. zoom makes it look like I used a potato to take the pic. I'm exhausted. https://wildfiretoday.com/2021/10/05/auburn-fire-burns-about-500-acres-north-of-rapid-city-sd/ IMG_5818.mov IMG_5835.MOV 1 8

Mickey D Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Stay safe. My son and his wife had to evacuate 6 days from a in CA. Luckily the wind shifted and their home was spared. take care.
Fuzz Posted October 6, 2021 Posted October 6, 2021 Stay safe and evac when you have to. Possessions can always be replaced. Aus is coming into the yearly bushfire season, so we can sympathise with your plight.
