Cuban link chains

Recommended Posts

Since this is a Cuban cigar website and many members have been to the island. I’d like to ask does anyone have a Cuban link chain from Cuba? Is it more of a Miami Cuban expat thing or do they make them in Cuba? If anyone has pics of theirs I’d love to see. A 6-8 mm chain is always on my list.

Yep - and there specialised shops in MIA that "rent" those chains and other gold jewelry to Cubans visiting the island so they can presume to be rich and have "made it" in the US while on visit in Cuba ...

I would think there is not enough gold in Cuba if any, to make these solid gold link chains. And certainly no average citizen living in utter poverty in Cuba who had the financial resources to afford one. I owned one years ago but decided on no longer wearing gold jewelry such as the chains and bracelets that I owned. Tastes change as you mature with age.

I thought all the gold was buried in Cuba.  I've heard stories of families burying their jewels, money, etc  before fleeing the Revolution.
