Popular Post Ken Gargett Posted August 4, 2021 Popular Post Posted August 4, 2021 Cohiba Robusto – Stanton & Killeen Rare Muscat We were headed up river, the same direction as Kurtz. Okay, I know that for most of us, that would mean a trip up the Mekong, but this is Conrad’s Kurtz, not Coppola’s. There are moments in your life when you look back and think, perhaps that would have been the time for a good cigar. Bit over thirty years ago I did the big backpacker thing for the best part of a year – mostly Africa and parts of Asia. In those days, I had about one cigar a year and I remember I took one on that trip (it spent seven months in my backpack before I smoked it at a group final dinner in Kathmandu – no prizes for guessing what a shocker it must have been). With all the house/Covid/life crap going on (and yes, so many people so much worse off than I am), I decided I needed an afternoon outside with a good cigar and a drink. Work stuff delayed this and so the big cigar planned was reduced, and I opted for a CoRo for this Kenfessions. Matched it with a Stanton & Killeen Rare Muscat. Take me now lord, that is such a monumentally... continue to full article. 6 2
Ken Gargett Posted August 6, 2021 Author Posted August 6, 2021 sorry if this one got a bit melodramatic. was trying, when i did the diary, to combine stuff from conrad into what i did and i am not sure some of it worked very well. still, was an amazing ride.
VTAivo2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Posted August 6, 2021 Ken, This was a great read. One of your best. Keep up the good work.

griller Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Loved this entry! Your writing style took me along for the experience. Looking forward to the next missive. Even looked up the Muscat & it looks like they will ship worldwide. My bday is coming up in a few weeks so maybe a splurge???
tuff Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 Enjoyed the read. What an adventure. Would love to read a book about your whole trip. Thanks, John

sharks Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Stanton and Killeen is a great drop. When I get the chance I sit back with a Seppelt GR113 rare muscst. Its always a great pairing to any cigar just hard finding it these days. Ken once again great read well done 👍
tuff Posted August 8, 2021 Posted August 8, 2021 Ken, I have read Heart of Darkness. I also have read several books about the very early days of big game hunting in Africa. I don't hunt, but those books are a way to have a slight sense of the county in early times that is long gone. They can be very politically incorrect but hard to judge them by modern morality... I have never tried Muscat, but will start hunting a nice version to give a whirl. John

John i was the same as a kid. read those books but had no interest in hunting as such. probably read a lot more about catching animals for zoos, but same sort of thing.
Fuzz Posted August 9, 2021 Posted August 9, 2021 Stanton & Killeen is a fantastic muscat. I'm partial to the Morris Old Premium Rare. And the Seppeltsfield DP63 Grand Muscat is great for those on a smaller budget.
