Popular Post Ryan Posted March 26, 2021 Popular Post Posted March 26, 2021 Came across this this morning. A tobacco factory on the corner of Dragones y Industria. Just around the corner from the Partagas factory. I'd guess about 1900. Fabrica de Tabacos y Cigarros - Flor de Tomás Gutierrez In the middle, and it's hard to make out, it says "Sucesores de Juan López" So it looks like Tomás Gutierrez bought out Juan López at some point before 1900. The funeral carriage in the foreground is on tram tracks but railway tracks are visible just in front of the building, going to the railway station which was where the Capitolio is now, until they moved that further south to the harbour and built the Capitolio in the 1920s. Some of us remember the steam train "graveyard" just beside the Partagas factory. They moved them a few years ago but that would have been were some of the railyards were. Nice old pictures. The last one, I took of the old trains on that corner in 2014. 11 3
LLC Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Nice pictures. I do remember the old train graveyard. I should have spent some more time in it taking pictures. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Nino Posted March 26, 2021 Posted March 26, 2021 Same here ... I never took the time to photograph the old steam locos parked next to Partagas ... until they were gone.

Some of them were cleaned up, painted and moved to various locations around Habana Vieja. There are a few outside the Almacenes de San Jose market, by the harbour. 1
