Popular Post Superhans Posted February 23, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 23, 2021 First time trying a Monte 5 in quite a few years as often I prefer a shorter smoke with a more substantial ring gauge. Not sure on the age as it is one of a number of singles I have had sitting in the corner of the humidor for a while. Opening cold draw is promising. 1/3 unbelievably smooth milk chocolate with a hint of nuttiness on the finish. Really quite mild so far. Taste does make me think there is some good age on this cigar as there is a certain aged tobacco quality. 2/3 much of the same as the first but with a pleasant spice on the tongue. 3/3 spice builds and chocolate/coffee flavours continue. Still just marginally below medium by the end. Overall smoke time was around 15 minutes and can’t really complain at all - excellent draw, burn and not a rough edge in sight. A very easy cigar to enjoy. Score of 89 with the only detractor being the size. 16
Popular Post Bijan Posted February 23, 2021 Popular Post Posted February 23, 2021 Great review! I love the bit of spice on these (more like the #2 than the 1,3 and 4). I do wish the no. 4 was more like the no. 5 due my preference for that size. 15 minutes! Wow! Last one I had was 20 minutes and I thought that was fast They're generally 35-50 minutes for me. But depends on my mood. 5
Superhans Posted February 24, 2021 Author Posted February 24, 2021 @Bijan normally it would take a little longer but it was just smoking so well today! Definitely prefer the no 4 size too but lately keep finding myself reaching for a siglo ii rather than the monte 2
MrBirdman Posted February 24, 2021 Posted February 24, 2021 Monte 5’s are one of my go-to short smokes. When they’re on they’re as good as any small format/minuto. 2
