R&J Club Kings review (‘cause I feel like it)

As I stated last night in my Partagas Capitols review, the packaging was what interested me. I had no expectations of the cigars inside. Call me retro by nature!

The Club King is another 5.5 x 42ish. Beautiful oily wrapper on these and seemingly made it’s historic ‘round the planet journey in better condition that the Capitol, although to assuage any concerns from our fearless leader, the Capitols were by no means in “bad” shape, just some chips on the wrapper and a sore foot! Put me in a tin and literally ship me around the entire planet... ?

Pre-draw is smooth. I expect an even burn. 1st thoughts are that these also stay true to the Marca, toasty with an ever so light cherry note. Halfway mark and the draw and burn are flawless. This has my attention. There is something developing that is all I can describe as “dark.” It’s not coffee, cocoa, wood or anything that I can describe. It’s pleasant, whatever it is... 3rd to home, has every bit of delicious R&J DNA, with this “dark” flavor, might be the wood from a coffee, cherry, pudding tree?         ?                                                                                  
 

I enjoyed this more than the Capitol. I nubbed this with nary an edge to be found.

Great review. Your ashtray fritzes my mind though! Somehow I can’t help seeing the rests as convex rather than concave.

They are indeed convex. Every time I put the cigar on it, it rolls right on to the floor! 
I’d like to meet the guy that designed it! ?

Not confident in either one of these being a star for 2021?  If you're doing the reviews, might as well enter into the contest!

If you see either, but especially the Club Kings back up, I’d at least give them a try. If the Kings were available in 25 ct. boxes, I would buy one! Hopefully better than $9.00 a stick! ?
