Popular Post Bijan
My 8th cigar from the Christmas sampler. Just over official weight. Sweet spice aroma pre-light. Predraw of coffee and cream/butter. First third: Starts with intense coffee. Some spice towards the end of the third. Second third: More spice, can't quite name it. Rich but not complex. Final third: Back to coffee, some chocolate. Ends a little creamy. 65 minute smoke time. Oddly strong with lots of smoke output. I'd rate it between 3.5/5 and 4/5. Edit: Weather was 1-2C/34-36F and humidity in the 60s.
RDB
Strong young Cohiba: not my thing! But... I do think cigars like this will improve greatly with time. It’s one of the reason boxes of 25 are so important. When I smoke one like this, I make a note to come back in three years’ time, and I’m ready to keep trying and waiting until they hit the spot.
Yellot00tr
I thought I was ocd and paranoid schizo, but official cigar weights? I love it. The unbridled passion and joie de vivre when it comes to this little hobby is something that’s to be commended. If one were to seek official cigar weights, where would he begin to look? The previous memories of a happiness long forgotten of weighing other past little pleasures in a former life resonate and deserve to be revisited in the current pursuit.

I generally start here: https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/cigar/officialweights You can also click on the name of any cigar on the CCW website and it will show details including weight: Navigate to (through the branch or search): https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/brand/cohiba#robustos and click on Robustos on the left and it will bring up: https://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/cigar/cohiba/robustos

It all started for me when I wanted to make sure I got a good draw for reviews as I had a run of tight draws (so I would just choose the lighter cigars from the box). Now I have the perfecdraw and in the case of the Christmas sampler I don't have a box or quarter box to choose the lighter cigars, but I've kept it up. Yellot00tr
Wow. Seems like a lot of work, but your passion is to be commended. Solutions to problems are what everything and anything in the realm of innovation is built upon. The need to solve problems allows for growth in all fields. You have my respect.

How often do you find yourself using the perfecdraw?
Yellot00tr
Also, is the storage level a factor in the weight? A more knowledgable member of the community may provide more here, but a stick at 68% would hold more weight than a stick at 62%. I’ve heard from some that perhaps a lower storage setting may be better for certain sticks, which would of course impact weight of said stick. I’ve never been able to confirm, as I’m a relative novice, but.......

Not as often as before, maybe around a third of the time, maybe less. It's usually just a little bit to get at a bunch or twig near the head not too far in. That being said I've probably jinxed myself and the next cigar I grab will be badly plugged

I’ve never been able to confirm, as I’m a relative novice, but....... Yes but not a huge factor. Cigars properly humidified are I think have 10-12% moisture content (or 12-14% for NC). Water weighs 1kg/litre, and I believe a quick internet search shows that tobacco weighs 0.32kg/litre. So I think that's roughly a 3-4% difference in weight between 10-12% moisture content. So there's some influence, but the range for cigars of the same vitola at the same humidity is close to 20%, so a heavy cigar won't become a light one or vice versa based on moisture/humidity. Forgot that the weight per volume for tobacco probably contains whatever amount of moisture/water is typical for tobacco already.
