ChangBang
Got a cigar from a box of the Bolivar Royal Coronas that I purchased off 24:24 with a Sep 19 date. I did have 'extra long trip' in my notes, so I probably should have rested it longer but I've had it for about 2 months now and I'm curious to see how they are! Aroma is a nice rich sweet tobacco that I sniffed longer than normal. Punch cut yields a slightly tight draw and I think is adequate. Still hit it a couple times with the perfect draw to see if it would help...it did not, but whatever I'm determined after my previous gross smoke lol. My tupperdore has been creeping into the 67% humidity range so I leave this in the counter for 5 hrs to see if there is any improvement. Did not help with the draw, but the burn was good! I'll be trying the refrigerator method in my next review. Lighting it up I get a leathery and earthy flavor. The flavor does seem slightly muted and I have to really concentrate in order to find it. These are the primary flavors that I get the entire first part and am somewhat disappointed. Flavor does get into a toasty bread flavor in the 2/3rd for a little then goes back to the leather and earth notes. The final third, this cigar really explodes with flavor and I get a light spice, toast tobacco, and espresso notes. It finished off with a creamy nutty flavor which is very nice! It took pretty much the entire cigar, but man that last 3rd was great. I'm hoping with more rest or age the flavors will get more pronounced as I still have 24 of these left! For now this gets a 5.5/10 - its an average cigar with the last third giving it a half point bump. I'm hoping the rest of the box improves with time, I'll be letting these sit for another 6months before I look into trying another again. 3
Bijan
Might have been the poor draw. I find I don't get much flavour from tight cigars due to lack of smoke output. Then again others say tight cigars taste especially good. But that's not my experience at all. If it helps it's not that common for Robustos to be tight/plugged as for thinner cigars so hopefully you'll have better luck with the rest of the box. Personally, I dry box almost all my cigars for at least 5-7 days and rarely, if ever, do I deal with the type of issues you describe. Let them sit for a little while and I'm sure you'll have a better experience. I find most CC perform best when they're a bit more dry. Also, what's your temperature in your humidor? ChangBang
Geez 5-7 days? That seems excessive, what's the average humidity where you live? I keep my cigars at 65F
