Popular Post rcarlson
Picked a six pack of these as an add on at the start of the Covid lockdown to smooth the transition to a more sedentary day to day. The wrappers were darker than any Cohiba I had ever seen. Didn't know whether to be disappointed or intrigued. I opted for the latter and gave them time to relax in the cigar spa for a special event. Since it was another day of the week on the green side of the grass, today was special enough. This near-maduro colored Coro opened beautifully. Sweet cream, mild hay, lemon grass and barely perceptible nuttiness. Well rolled and just the right heft. I've learned that Cohibas benefit from a slow smoke so I adhered to the rule. Ever-so-slight uptick in intensity through the middle. Sweet cream the most characteristic aspect. Perfect for dessert on a slow smokin' cool night. Finished as well as it started. A nutty, espresso came increased with the warmth and nicotine build -- but that beautiful sweet cream refused to take the bench. No doubt one of the best Coro I've had. The dark wrapper be damned. Incredibly satisfying. A solid "A" on the final in this class.
mprach024
?????? Nice review Rob. Makes me want to look for some darker wrapper examples, I certainly have nothing in my stock that dark. Glad you had a good smoke!

Personally, I don't think I'll hunt for the dark wrappers. Was just pleasantly surprised it was so much better than I expected, in fact better than the others I've had with traditional Cohiba wrapper (maybe 20 over the course of 15 years). Was it just the wrapper? Hell if I know. Doubtful. I am a wrapper skeptic. And we all know CCs are like Russian Roulette. Consistently inconsistent. But I'm looking forward to the next, and since I splurged on Coros with the anticipated Cohiba price spike on top of what we've already seen, I'll have the chance to give 'em the old Pepsi challenge.
