Popular Post smitte3
Montecristo #4 Dry Review Nice open cold draw, light cacao, 1st one out of the box. 1st third: chocolate milk coffee right off the bat with dustings of cacao. Smooth, medium body and strength, great start. Pleasant aroma of conditioned light brown leather. Pairing with a Starbucks cold double espresso shot and a book. And away we go... 2nd third: ash falls off after an inch or so and applied a small touchup to even out the burn. The bitter chocolate flavor comes in and out a bit more, but mostly consistent flavors throughout this so far. The wrapper has a slight crack, but it doesn’t impact performance at all. Curious to see if the wet cigar example cracks or not. Final third: small touch up, flavors hold steady with some tannins kicking in. Nice smoke output the whole way. Solid performer over 50 minutes. 90/100 Montecristo #4 Wet Review Wet cigar test the next day Cold draw has a bit of resistance, wrapper dried off quickly after I patted it dry. Let it rest for ~15 minutes after the sink. 1st third: Opens nicely with a burst of rich chocolate milk coffee. Settles down after the first couple of puffs into cacao and milk coffee. Pairing with a hazelnut coffee today. Flavors are smooth & typical of Monte 4, not as rich as a Monte 1 and very similar to yesterday's dry version. The first ash fell off a bit faster in the wet version, but very similar so far. 2nd third: Flavor becomes a little bit richer. Smoke output is nice and velvety, smooth smoke, no noticeable difference from yesterday's dry Monte. Final third: Consistent flavors, not much of any transitions, just a all around enjoyable smoke. Enjoying with some NFL. Hard to pick out much of any discernible differences from yesterday, but will keep the water trick in mind for sticks that lack flavor or are sub-par to see if it can knock them up a notch. Might try the water test on some of my fireproof CoRo's next year. 65 minutes of chill. 90/100 (same score)
dominattorney
One thing I noticed with my wet cigar is that the ash kind of puckers away from the wrapper for lack of a better term, almost as if it shrinks away. I wondered whether the water test would help with fireproof wrappers also.
