Popular Post dominattorney Posted October 17, 2020 Popular Post Posted October 17, 2020 Lets get cracking with this one, shall we? SD4 Dry Review: I have always enjoyed this cigar, as it seems to punch above its weight class far more than most others. These both appear to have excellent construction and similar weights. Great specimens for this review. Dry one lights up nice with earth, funk and spice. Construction is bang on and holds a wicked length of ash. Coffe creeps in and strength is medium. Wonderful flavors of funk, wet grass, and mushrooms. Final third picks up in strength and flavor really burning well and hitting all the high notes. I would have nubbes this had I eaten anything before smoking this. Also wife told me to get off my fat arse and make dinner. Wonderful smoke. 9 of 10 Partagas SD4 wet review Lets see how this water impacts things shall we? Ran this under the tap holding the cap end up for 5 seconds and dried it off. Immediately noticed that the cigar was more spongey than the dry example put to the sword yesterday. Upon lighting noticed no difference in flavor or burn, but the ash was pretty interesting. Not only did I get a darker ash, but also noticed that it was less stable, breaking off quite a bit easier than the dry example. I store at 62 and also noticed that the ash shrank away from the wrapper quite a bit. I wonder whether this technique would be useful with cigars like the hoyo epi especial and the RASS that I have had fireproof wrapper issues with. Will have to test this out a bit more. Anyway first third saw similar flavors, but ash just flaked off almost every time I put the bugger down. Here you can see the wrapper noticeably more pronounced with respect to the ash again. Flavors are identical to those from the example smoked yesterday, as were strength and body progression. Here im getting mushroom in spades. This picture exemplifies that burn is definitely effected by wetting. Or is it? With CC there are simply so many variables that it's tough to tell, but construction on these two was so similar I have a hard time saying that the only variable between the two smokes, namely wetting the second, did not impact the burn. This side by side from the one i left in the ashtray from the dry review shows the difference in ash color best. the wet cigar was still a 9 of 10 for me,, but i don't see the benefit as i much preferred the dry experience yesterday. It held its ash better and I didn't have to fuss as much with putting it down or worrying that the ash would crumble. The flakes of ash in the tray are all from the wet smoke. Interesting review comp idea though. I must say. 6

dominattorney Posted October 18, 2020 Author Posted October 18, 2020 @Elpresidente. Just updated original review to add wet cigar. Not sure whether was supposed to edit or add as additional post on the same thread.
