AlohaStyle Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I rarely buy the cardboard petacas, so I'm looking for some help on the warranty seals... Should the 3-cigar petacas have current/regular warranty seals with the beveled corners by the hologram, vs being rounded at the corners? Should the warranty seals have the micro-print serial numbers on them? And lastly, do all petacas have the barcode with serial numbers on them, either on the seal or printed on the cardboard packaging itself? Cheers
Bijan Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I'm pretty sure the outer box has the seal with the serial number and not the individual 3 or 5 packs, same with the box code. I haven't bought one in a while though...
NSXCIGAR Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Individual petaca seals are basic with no details like the main outer box seals. Of course, the main box of the petacas should have the standard seal with the bar code and hologram. The same basic seals are found on all ICT products (minis, clubs, puritos etc.)
AlohaStyle Posted September 25, 2020 Author Posted September 25, 2020 Okay thanks. I knew the main outer box has the proper seals, etc, but I wasn't positive about the smaller 3/5 pack boxes. Reason I ask is that I saw someone with a current band CoRo petaca, with a pre 2010 warranty seal on it with rounded corners by the hologram. I found it odd but couldn't say for certain if a 5 cigar petaca should have a beveled corner seal, rather than a rounded corner one like I saw.
Popular Post ATGroom Posted September 26, 2020 Popular Post Posted September 26, 2020 They do actually have a microprinted serial number in the centre. Every pack will have a unique number. Usually they are sequential within the display box. They don't relate to the outer seal and can't be checked anywhere as far as I know. 4 3

To specifically respond to your question, the pre-2011 seal didn't have any hologram. These were still made from "real" paper, plain simple, no hologram. When you say, you saw a current Coro petaca with a warranty seal with "rounded corners by the hologram", then that seems perfectly fine to me (a picture might help if you want to be sure). There has never been any 'rounded'-to-'bevelled' transition, like seen in the main seal. For petacas, i.e. single cardboard 3er or fiver it holds: - Pre-2011: plain paper - Followed by a small seal, now printed on self-adhesive plastic "paper", with a hologram added and with rectangular corners, such as the one displayed on CCW. I think that one had only been in use for a very brief transitional period. - That was followed in 2012, perhaps even earlier, end of 2011, by a seal with hologram and rounded corners, still without microprinted numbers. - That again was followed by the current seal, around 2015/2016. That one coming with a paler green, with slightly modified hologram (graphics and dimensions) and with one 'central' micro-printed serial no. as shown by Alex, above. All those petaca seals never came with bevelled corners, they always were rounded, bar the very first one that had been sharp rectangular. I am not absolutely sure about the exact dates of the respective replacements, but there has always been some period of transition. Perhaps other members may be able to help here. I'll see whether I can get you some pics later. 2 3

Fugu Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 Some pics. Examples being, the pre-2010 seal on a 5ct Reyes from 2011. I am lacking a specimen of the one from the period shown on CCW, which had been the first with hologram. Second, post-2011 on a RGP from Nov 2012. Third, post-2015 on a 2016 3ct Mag46 tubos. pre-2010: Plain paper, dark green ink, comparatively fine printing resolution: Post-2011: Plastic "paper" (CCW sais "synthetic" paper) with hologram added. Seal in a rather crisp print, but coarser resolution compared to that on paper. Darker green ink (shade similar to the final paper version). No serial numbers. The hologram part is appr. 20 by 9 mm. Note the white border between hologram and the classic warranty seal part, which is wider than the upper and lower border of the seal: Post-2015 (perhaps a tad sooner). Plastic paper, with hologram. Seal in a paler green ink, and less sharp / less saturated appearance. Serial number added. The hologram part being ca 20 x 11 mm. White border now allmost same width on all sides due to the hologram being taller (though there is some variation by the holo-foil placement, obviously). Changes done to hologram motive and appearance (and more): 4
