in continuing my group of buddies' monthly tradition of throwing FU Corona parties, my wife and I went to Peter's house for a labor day weekend clambered. 20200904_065744.jpg.3c52b4ee019c22abe62088cd0da5cd2f.jpg

One of these came along for the ride. My example shows signs of being undefiled upon arrival. Damn. Should have checked before I left. First third was decent, though not stellar. Cigar is a tad undefiled. However this is a robust stick that really shines in the spice and coffee department right from the start. I was helping Peter tend the clam fire so missed out on getting a photo of first third. Shouod have snapped a pic of that. It was a sight to behold. Build a roaring fire in a purpose made fire pit in the woods of Colorado for annual clambakes. Then when the logs burn down to coals, throw seaweed on them, then cheesecloth bags filled with clams, rosemary, butter, sausage, corn and potatoes. Then wet burlap, then seal the sucker up and the aromas place you back on a beach on long Island or jersey from whence we both hail. 20200905_165446.jpg.92bf5a0c627ad08c9946877992cc21ed.jpg

Ah, nostalgia. Second third picks up with some coffee notes and stone fruit. The draw tightens up a bit but it's still a bit too open. 20200905_170159.jpg.8f1966722c89e2ff1b0aac7a5dc7a5d8.jpg

Last third shines best, coffee and cream with shortbread and stonefruit jam. The clam aroma is geting irresistible. Have to toss this puppy before its time but well worth it for the feast that lay ahead.
