mikinva Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 I am intrigued by Peso cigars. I have never had one. How do you get them in the US? No one brings them back, because they don't consider them worth the suitcase space. Are they like JLP or Quniteros? Are any hand made? Anyone have good experiences with Pesos? If they are decent it seems like they would be the ultimate C&C.
kalibratecuba Posted July 21, 2020 Posted July 21, 2020 They do come into the States in suitcases of travellers that have a curiosity for tobacco beyond the big marcas. I've been gifted a few. The trouble to procure, the low cost, quality and little demand for them prevents them from making an appearance on Instagram pics.Sent from my GM1917 using Tapatalk

Well @mikinva there are 2 main reasons you don't hear much about "peso" cigars... 1) you can only get them in Cuba and that can be a pain finding them in the shops only for locals (never in the La Casa del Habanos). 2) I won't say they suck, but they are so so so below even the cheapest cigar you can order than it wouldn't be worth ordering them if you could and the margin would be too low to make selling them worth the effort. I have been bringing them back from Cuba for 20yrs now and mainly use them as gag gifts or to mess with folks who are full of crap..... They have a dry, dusty, flat, nothing interesting taste. And since you can get a Jose Piedra for $2 why bother. 2 1
Viva Vegas Posted August 7, 2020 Posted August 7, 2020 I have had some selectos (peso) cigars in my humidor since Sept 19 also put some in Feb 20 , I always bring back three bags (75) every trip. They are not bad, a little age on them and they are good. Best way to get them is to go to Cuba. 1
laficion Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Hi all, I'll start by saying that a " Peso Cigar " is very good for the price you're going to pay and that is very good today. I also agree that you can ONLY get them in Cuba , at a VERY VERY low price. But where i disagree with "1 Leg Lance " is; 1.They are very good cigars 2.They don't taste like the one's that your used to 3.They have a taste that is very "LOCAL very RAW but tasty , not like other big brands. and 4. You can ONLY get them in Cuba. That makes them unique. The farm rolled are the best. Guy 1
laficion Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Hi all again, I don't mean that the big brands don't taste GREAT, I meant that they have NOTHING to do with the big brands. Sorry !!!!!! Guy 1

Sorry !!!!!! Guy Hello Guy, Just curious as I had a Guantanamera for the first time the other week and couldn't actually finish it. How do peso cigars compare to a Guantanamera? A cigar which I feel is at the most entry of levels in Habanos.
laficion Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Dear @Montezüma, First, "Guantanamera" is not a "PESO CIGAR" as you can get them here with all the others, secondly, you can ONLY get Peso cigars in Cuba. When I used to go to Cuba, I used to bring back a few bundles of peso cigars because they were very good and cheap, (at the time) 1 Euro for 25 cigars to 6 or 10 Euros for 25 cigars. They are very easy to get and the reason was, why do I have to go so far to get what I can get? Staying here? I do not agree with "(1LegLance). Peso cigars are VERY good cigars and depending on which ones, they can be very good if not great smokes. ( Especially.--the Monsdales ) You can also get great cigars in all the big hotels or farms, they are ALWAYS great buys. Amicalement, Guy
