Lunettesman Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Hey FOH, Hope everyone has a good start of the week. Does anyone know how to sharpen a Colibri Quasar Table Cutter? I really recommend it. Well build, solid and efficient. Unfortunately, the Colibri company told me there s no way to sharpen the blade. Any of you has an idea on how to do it? Thanks guys
nKostyan Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 It is necessary to look for a master toolmaker who is able to make a sharpening device or a new blade
PigFish Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Post a picture. I have managed to sharpen cigar cutters with Cratex or Matz abrasives and a die grinder. It is pretty easy. This is a picture of the bit so you know what I am talking about (without the power tool). This Davidoff cutter has been sharpened a few times. None the worse for wear. Very sharp! This thing is filthy... it travels around in my backpack. Don't hold that against me!!! -LOL -Piggy
GVan Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 I agree with @PigFish, I do the same thing with a Dremel Rotary tool for cigar cutters, scissors, wire cutters and chisels. I use the small grinding wheel very lightly when the edge gets bad or the fine sandpaper rotary tool for fine sharpening work. Works great on sharpening everything except I do not use it on my good knives where only a fine stone will do to get the right edge.
