I bought a box of these upon release from a reputable European shop.

Pulled one out recently and smoked it. While smoking, I noticed that it actually had a Serie D No. 4 band.

Does anyone know if something happened like they used Serie D No 4 with the first few batches?

I tried to research online and could find no such reference.

Thanks!

Most likely this is another reference to the well-noted "Cuba being Cuba" quality assurance. As Habanos S.A. has had a policy to waste no materials in their cigar production you find from time-to-time examples of the last batches of bands used with new batches, for example. Or simply this was an error on behalf of the person applying bands when the cigar was made and it wasn't checked.

Probably Cuba being Cuba.

In fact I believe there were quite a few boxes of 01 PSD3 released with Partagas standard band A. At the time no cigar other than the D4 had the Serie band so there could certainly have been a mix-up when the first D3 bands arrived especially since the cigars were already being made when those bands arrived and likely were made right alongside D4.

If they were coins they would be worth 100x. But they are Cuban cigars, so just a shoulder shrug.
