Popular Post 99call Posted June 15, 2020 Popular Post Posted June 15, 2020 So in general I massively dislike football. I'll mainly attribute this to hooliganism, how dull/morally deficient, and retarded the players are....but wait. In walks in Marcus Rashford. Apparently (even before he was earning big) he was contributing massively to kids in poverty and his local community, I'm not suggesting every sportsmen needs to be a role model, but good god, its nice to see someone who's not just motivated by crashing sports cars, shagging his teammates wife, of how much champagne he can poor on the floor. I've long given up on football, generally as I find it hard to follow a sport, when I dislike everyone taking part (even my own team). It's nice to see someone with their moral compass in tact, and helping out others, in the manner he so valued. Hats off to you Marcus Rashford! Everytime you score a goal, i'll raise a glass.......good on you. 5

Have to agree with Ken on this. Very admirable by young Mr. Rashford, especially compared to so many other football players - but he's still a Man U player ?

I don't know much about the feuding rivalries anymore, (as I tuned out after the days of Cantona) but surely Man U have been so bad for so long, that rival fans couldn't care less about them anymore?

99call Posted June 16, 2020 Author Posted June 16, 2020 Just now, Ken Gargett said: never been how it works. I've always been of the opinion that it's the greatest possible sledging to a team, when you treat them like they don't even register on the radar of interest.

Meklown Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Actually I'd venture to say that there are plenty more footballers who do charity in some sense or the other, but it isn't clickbait material so they generally go unreported in the news. Far easier to attract audiences by reporting the bad rather than the good!
nubase Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 Good to see, there are some celebs and athletes who are stepping up and trying to have a positive influence in their communities. This one is not in my backyard but I appreciate his sentiment.
99call Posted June 16, 2020 Author Posted June 16, 2020 It's just coming out, that Marcus Rashford's efforts have shamed the government, into U-turning on their previous position. No doubt, it's tough times for any government across the world, but feeding kids in poverty, who cannot survive when not being fed at school, should be a no brainer. He's just protected 1.3 million kids from going hungry this year, hats off to him......back of the net!
