Riverstyx Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 I went to Cuba with some friends in July 2017. A buddy (not a big smoker) bought a box of Monte 4s (box code Jan 17). Although I told him he needed to put them in a humidor, he left them out...in his garage, in his house, etc. he came over last night and we each fired one up to see how bad it was. I have some Monte 4s from the same trip...literally can’t tell a difference. 1
Cairo Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Could you add one more detail, please? Where does this person live (city, country)? Thanks. 1
Riverstyx Posted May 17, 2020 Author Posted May 17, 2020 The cigars were in a few different cities in Florida over the past three years but primarily Orlando. A lot of time inside an air conditioned house (with lack of humidity).
Cairo Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 This is an article on relative humidity in air conditioned rooms fwiw: https://www.quora.com/How-high-is-the-humidity-in-an-air-conditioned-room
bdw1984 Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 I live in Florida and in most of my house the rh stays around 50-59% and the temp 70-74. Cigars actually smoke really well in those conditions. I have a friend 30 min from me with a 200+ box collection in two Aristocrats. He hasn't had water in them or had them plugged in in about 4 years- his stuff smokes great. 1
FatPete Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 I have a friend who also dispenses with the idea of a humidor. He gets a full box of cigars now and then and keeps them in a cabinet in his drawing room. He says they smoke fine, and the one BBF I had with him from his stash was great a few months ago. I think his system works because he always finishes a box within 6 months before buying another.
