Popular Post prshah25 Posted April 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted April 11, 2020 I usually don't smoke non cuban cigars but when I do its usually Opus X preferably with some age on them. I had picked 2 of these bad boys back in 2011 and had them aging in my humidor since then. So, it has approximately 9 years of age on them. Last week while going through my collection, I saw these and had decided to smoke one this year. Long story short, Prez put up this amazing competition this week and I decided to light one up earlier than I thought? Cigar: Opus X Love Affair Size: 4 9/16 x 50 Wrapper: Dominican Republic Binder: Dominican Republic Filler: Dominican Republic Strength: Medium Pairing - Spring Water. Appearance and Construction: The cigar is a really nice looking perfecto with no apparent veins. Nice Colorado wrapper. First third: Right off the bat, I am hit with an abundance of that white pepper spice along with some cinnamon in the background. The strength is medium at this time and burn is flawless. The ash is white and firmly held. Second third:The strength is still medium and spiciness has mellowed down at this point. Notes of Cloves, Molasses and Caramel along with quality tobacco flavors are dominant. Burn is flawless and ash is solid white. For a little over 4 inch cigar the ash held at least half way. What a cigar!!! Final Third: At this point it began to burn hot and I could only taste tobacco flavor. Ash is still white and strength had increased to full. Rating: This cigar was not overly complex but I would rate it a solid 92 for flavor, construction and 55 minutes of quality smoke time. Can't wait to smoke the next one in a couple of years. 15
El Hoze Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Have only smoked a handful of Love Affairs but they’ve always been very good. In the NC category I tend to smoke mostly Opus X but these days NCs seem to be fewer and fewer. 2

SansSin Posted May 16, 2020 Posted May 16, 2020 i keep wanting to like opus x but the ones i've tried so far have been too much pepper for me, holding a few to try them with some age and see if that helps. my go to non cubans are the 1926 padrons 3

That cigar still holds a very esteemed place in my cigar pantheon - a really nice stick.
