Popular Post Akela3rd Posted February 9, 2020 Popular Post Posted February 9, 2020 Having done the usual Sunday morning Scout admin and a bike ride and having bought myself a spare hour and a half it's time for a cigar. Not particularly cold out but very windy and a bit drizzley so a tactical move to the garage for this one (facing the door, ignoring the mess which I've been meaning to sort out for months - hey, I know where everything is alright?). Fonseca No.1 are invariably on the lumpy bumpy side (if they ever do an EL they'll need to deal with this) but generally well made. This was no exception, a bit of a three-pinter once the tissue came off but a nice sheen and the draw was perfect. Slight sweetness on the cold draw and once lit the first taste was of a mild freshly baked biscuit, nice. Paired with the AF beer of choice at the moment - Brewdog Nanny State. It's alcohol free and I've been up since 5a.m., it's allowed. Cigar has lovely mild but distinctive flavours of baking and milky coffee.Into the second third and the sweetness drops out for a while, moving into a more subtle general mildly woody stage with a little bitterness in the retrohale. Strength ups some going into the final third, concentration of flavour - coffee, more sweetness behind, very rich deep sweetness actually which coats my tongue. Tastes oily in a good way. Slight pepper to finish.Burn line has been impeccable throughout with the dark stacked ash holding well until tapped off. Draw feels tighter, concentrating the flavours more - this is an excellent cigar, moving through distinct phases of taste and physical feel - I know what I mean even if you don't... Having got my head around the 100 point scoring system I'd give this a 91. Generally pretty good in other words and on the replenish list. Sent from 47171 Lempo 8
rcarlson Posted February 9, 2020 Posted February 9, 2020 Nice review, but that project calls for a DC. Sheesh. Mine requires several. 1
nKostyan Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Great review and great garage. I also love when everything is at hand, but only the owner knows where to find the thing 1
