Habana Mike Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 So finally Atlanta has forced a ban on smoking in Hartsfield-Jackon airport. As of January 2nd, 2020 all the smoking lounges will be shuttered. Bars and restaurants that previously allowed smoking will no longer be able to. A sad day in air travel.
Rupe Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 This is truly sad. I connect through ATL fairly often and will usually hit one of the smoking lounges when I have time. Looks like I won’t be able to enjoy a smoke anymore during my layovers.
bmf30180 Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 They will have 'smoking areas' outside of the terminals. But, that means leaving the concourses and having to go back through security... and no one wants to do that.
Derboesekoenig Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Fuuuuuu. Well this blows. Pun intended
La_Tigre Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Crazy for people with layovers in the major hub for travel....
Markspring1978 Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Was in Tel Aviv yesterday, was surprised they still allow smoking in their airports. Albeit in a small phone-booth sized cubicle.
Bagman Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 To say, even as a cigar smoker, that I will no longer "get" to sit next to someone stinking from a recent stay in a cigar lounge I say "Good Riddance"

The only cigar smoking I do in airports is at the Emirates First class lounge. The lounge take up the whole second floor of the terminal, and has its own duty free, free fine dining, and showers. Fine selection of Cubans and you get to smoke them while looking down on all the plebs!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 5 1

And if it were only for a first topic of conversation. But, hey, tolerance I say. When we've reached a point where even my fellow BOTLs can't handle it, we're doomed. Will take on that one for all us pleb-cigar smokers out there. Cheers! 5

mrmessy Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 Fly out of ATL every other week. Can't say that I've ever had time for a smoke. And I never like smoking cigars next to cigarette smokers. So, vi guess I'm not missing anything. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Expansive room with fine furniture, all for the cigar traveler.
TNT009 Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 Never thought about sparking in the airport in ATL, how big was the lounge? Passed through Denver's DIA and it was so crowded you could barely see people through the smoke!

Nino Posted December 26, 2019 Posted December 26, 2019 You'all welcome to transit via FRA - I smoke a cigar or two close to my departure gate every time I fly. 2
