Partagas Maduro No. 1 RUM JUN 19 (SM2RW)

I know, I know.  I have selected an extremely young cigar for this abbreviated review.  Like, Jeffrey Epstein young.  But it was the only qualifying cigar in my collection.  Probably a mistake, but it was still damn good.  

The wrapper is oily, leather, chocolate, smooth. . .  delicious looking and smelling.

Initially, a bitter mineral draw that made me regret having reached into the humi so soon on these.  But after about a quarter inch it hit its somewhat limited stride.  Rich, creamy, chocolate and kinda earthy flavor move in for the kill.  A maduro sweetness and tasty oil coating the wrapper -- lip-smacking! 

Second third gains some power with white pepper, which I don't like.  But it is gaining in the coffee/cocoa department.  Unfortunately, the creaminess fades proving to me that these need more time. A lot more time.   

Last Third, as feared, turned slightly bitter again.  There's still the ever-present coffee/cocoa mineral earthy thing going on.  But I was looking to close it out. . .  aaaaand . . . nubbed it 'cause that's how I roll!

Unlike many, I do like Cuban maduro in most instances.  It's the sweetness that gets me when done right.  I think this will qualify as another good maduro CC in my book after a lengthy beautyrest.  The construction, draw and burn were exemplary and that always improves the experience. So. . . 

I give it grade of "B" today.  Not bad for a new student in this class. 

Looking forward to it after a year or two down.

All who smoked a line of Partagas Maduro produced in 2019 declare that cigars do not require aging and are in good condition. I'm also just waiting only for acclimatization...

I do agree they get better with a little time on them.
