Hot Takes

1. Figured out

Jared Goff in 16 regular season games since the Chiefs-Rams MNF game; 17 TD, 18 INT, 60.51 CMP%, a 78.6 passer rating, 4136 yards, 7.01 Y/A, and a 9-7 record

To compare, throughout all of 2018, Goff had 32 TD, 12 INT, a 64.88 CMP%, 4,688 yards, and 8.36 Y/A.

2. Poisoned chalice

MVP QBs are 0-8 in the last 20 Super Bowls. The last MVP QB to win the Super Bowl was Kurt Warner in 1999
MVP QBs since:

Kurt Warner (2001) Lost SB XXXVI - Rich Gannon (2002) Lost SB XXXVII - Tom Brady (2007) Lost SB XLII - Peyton Manning (2009) Lost SB XLIV - Peyton Manning (2013) Lost SB XLVIII - Cam Newton (2015) Lost SB L - Matt Ryan (2016) SB LI - Tom Brady (2017) Lost SB LII

3. Dominant

[Tom Pelissero] There are a lot of crazy stats about Robert Saleh’s #49ers defense, and here’s one: They’re allowing fewer pass yards per game than any team since 1980. (Via @NFLResearch)

In the pass-happy era this stat is even more impressive in my eyes.

4. Consistent

[Baldwin] The 3 highest QBR games of the 2019 season: 1. Lamar Jackson against the Rams, 2. Lamar Jackson against the Bengals & 3. Lamar Jackson against the Dolphins.

5. Next up

[Jurecki] Kyler Murray Weeks 1-5: 62.7 completion percentage, 1,324 yards, 4 TD, 4 INT, 80.1 passer rating. Kyler Weeks 6-11: 66.7 completion percentage, 1,379 yards, 10 TD, 1 INT, 102.8 passer rating.

Is he the next Lamar Jackson?  He has the intangibles.

seriously? no mention of the glorious skins?

come from behind win. racing up the table. panthers this week, should be an easy win.

actually, wins don't come much more ugly but two highlights.

our undrafted rookie returner (well, after they finally shifted trey quinn to the bench because you do need to run faster than a sloth stuck in honey) drops a kickoff and then picks it and goes the distance. first time for a skin in 4 years.

but the absolute highlight - just so skins - the last play or two to seal the victory with the skins in possession. where is our QB? the new kid, his first win. and no one can find him for the last plays. seems he got so excited that he thought we were going to win that he was off taking selfies with fans. did not realise his team was back on the field. you could not make it up.

Your skins sound like my Bears.

Last week, Bears score a touchdown and decide to go for 2 points since that's what the actuarial says you have to do when are up 12 points in the 3rd quarter.  Bears can't figure out what play to run so they waste a timeout, then they run the play and get called for pass interference.  Time to line up for an extra point kick (now 43 yards due to the penalty) and get called for too many men on the field.  The extra point kick (now 48 yards) goes wide in no surprise whatsoever.  That's my beloved team in a nutshell for 2019
