northo Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Just wondering if anybody could shed any light on a couple of curiosities I found in my humidor. The Partagas I think is a Habanero from a 25 box from the early 90s. Found them completely dried out in a draw of my grandfathers (which explains its devilish good looks). But the RA I've no idea about, and no idea how I got them. Also 125mm, so could be a Belvedere, but the RG seems smaller than 39. If anybody has any more informed opinions, would appreciate them... (And apologies if this isn't the correct bit of the forum!)
northo Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 Yeah, just kind of a guess based on what they seem most similar to on cigars-review, I'm not sure they're made any more. (I would've bought them 10+ years ago, probably in Spain.)
cfc1016 Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 Maybe the Panetelas (conchitas vitola, 127mm x 35rg). Machine made; cello; 25s and 10s; pre-1960/discontinued late 1990s, per CCW. Especially with machine-made sticks, ring guage is far from consistently precise. Length too. Lots of swing - I'd say even up to 5mm of length. Add onto that the likelihood the cigar will 'shrink' a bit after many years of aging... and LxW isn't a guaranteed identifier, unfortunately.
Fugu Posted November 20, 2019 Posted November 20, 2019 As 99call already said, it's a Belvederes. Don't give too much about the rg-measurements. They are figurado, box pressed and highly variable. I may take comparison measurements if you wish, but there really is no other vitola to be considered.
northo Posted November 20, 2019 Author Posted November 20, 2019 Thanks guys! I didn't know that about the potential size discrepancies in old MM cigars. And yeah- these are definitely a figurado, and box pressed, so sound like a Belvedere.
Mikeltee Posted November 21, 2019 Posted November 21, 2019 Well the real question here is how did they smoke?
