Popular Post slowsmoke Posted November 9, 2019 Popular Post Posted November 9, 2019 By far my nemesis cigar. I love PLPC and PLMC. I love small cigars. So I picked up an HQ box off 24:24. This is about my 6th or 7th out of the box, and they are all so GD tight that they could be used as deadly blow darts by the natives. And they are not just plugged at a certain spot. I have rammed the perfecdraw from end to end so hard I can almost see daylight through the damn things, and they still barely draw. It's like they used glue all throughout the filler. The box has been in my possession for over a year, and this particular cigar has been sitting for months at the bottom of a desktop humidor that is rarely opened and maintains a rock solid 61-62RH. I don't care what anyone says, storage conditions are not the issue here. I have completely given up on them. I was going to reach for a RyJ petit royales for a short Saturday morning smoke, but I remembered this comp and figured what the hell. Clipped it, and it's just as tight as the rest. I mean unsmokeable tight. So I start gently with the perfedraw at the head, testing it along the way, until I have finally buried the perfecdaw to the handle, and the draw is just barely acceptable. Light it, and first puffs are a really, really good mix of nuts. Maybe slightly roasted or salted, but just great mixed nuts. This is why I hate these things, because I believe they could be good. It is producing plenty of smoke off the foot, just hardly anything is coming through to me. Less than an inch into it, and it is dying. I pick up the pace, and I'm getting fresh lumber, a bit of milk coffee, flavors I really like. Just before the halfway point, it is dying again, so I'm smoking faster, but that is making it tunnel down the perfecdraw hole, and it is getting acrid. I've been down this road before. I pitch it and put both of us out of our misery. The end. 5 3
cigaraholic Posted November 9, 2019 Posted November 9, 2019 One thing you might try is really rolling the cigar around in your fingers almost like crushing it....you can’t hurt it it’s a short filler cigar.....that usually opens up the draw on any tight ones
PointFivePast Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 I feel your pain! My nemesis is the PLMC... something about these small RG cigars! It’s like there’s never just one dud. They’re either great or complete crap.
BuzzArd Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 I like em okay for yard gars or quick drive smokes, but yes, they do have a very firm draw... ocassionaly difficut or unsmokeable. I dry box for extended periods hoping to loosen things up in there. Seems to help a bit. And that looks like a PL Churchill in the photo! Lol Camera perspective I’d guess...
Tstew75 Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 I've had really good luck with my PL Panetelas & MCs. Maybe luck of the draw (no pun intended)!
Frozenbarb Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 I got 3 boxes of PLP REG JUL 17 from another vendor a month ago. I tried one and it had a good draw. I guess i'll try a couple more to see. I'm trying to hoard as much as I can before they discontinue.
Lotusguy Posted November 14, 2019 Posted November 14, 2019 At least you paid only ~$50 on a box of tent pegs and not $300, like it sometimes happens. cough SP Sanchos 99-01 cough
