I do that occasionally too, but it's humid where I live so the cigar generally doesn't dry out like yours. I once left a half-burnt stick for more than a week and went back to it once I remembered - it got very strangely sour and tasted "spoilt" so I tossed it immediately. My rule now is not to leave it out for more than 2 nights.

I have a 'same day' rule...I rarely have to let a smoke go out & come back to it, but next day (or beyond) is pretty gross

I frequently (every Wednesday evening specifically) smoke half a cigar - generally a PC or corona - on my 30 min walk to Cub Scouts, cut it, blow it through and smoke the remainder on my walk home. Works for me and Ye Gods, I need it after an hour and a half of them!
