Jl2. This is my 2nd from a 6’er  I can’t remember if it was psp or hq. Either way here it goes.

1st third. Almost a jalapeño spice and twang. I mean almost burning  my mouth spicy. Then the twang sets in. Reminded me of the upman 1 I smoked a few days ago for about 1 minute. Then the twang leaves and it’s all spice. Like a really young D4.

2nd 3rd some wood but almost all spice turning into a bad, I mean really bad D4 to my tastes. Hoping something happens soon b/c I’m about to toss it.

burn was good. Draw was good. Just flavor profile not to my liking it was better than the first one I smoked from this 6’er but my guess is these need some serious time down b/c this can’t be what the followers like.
glad at this point I didn’t invest in a box. It’s brother JL1 however is one of my go to’s always good and delivers.
I can’t rate honestly. They need more time but at this point I wouldn’t smoke another if I didn’t have 4 more. Hopefully some time down helps.
cheers

Exact same experience with what I believe is the same 6 pack order. My sincere hope is that it needs a few years down time because my experience and the rave reviews here just didn't add up. Heck, even CA in their most recent issue gave it a 94.  That was a 4 year old box code, so my hope was to leave my last 4 until 2-4 years as well.

Good luck, and nice review!

I had a box of JL 2 years ago that were crazy in terms of inconsistency.  Construction was all over the place, in the same box.  But they were tasty and had that "hard candy" thing going on.  Since then, the JL2 has been a real disappointment, even the HQ/PSP.  The JL1?  A solid gold go-to.  Thankfully an underrated gem.  Shhhhh. . .

Smoked one last night, knowing it was waaaay too young, and your experience mirrors my own. Opened up with a good bit of pepper, every once in awhile got a hint of citrus, then by the halfway point bitterness and harshness snuck in. Pitched it right around the halfway point. I see promise for sure, but I think less than a year from box date was very clearly too soon for this guy. Draw and burn were outstanding though, so I'm optimistic.

I'm still waiting for a knock my socks off moment out of this one, RASS, and a Monte 2. Those are some well discussed and thought of cigars over here, but out of the three, nothing has made me sit up in my chair and praise Fidel.
