I got one - need it a few times a year even without the planned outages. It’s a PITA to drag out of the garage and set it up, though and it’s very noisy.
A portable generator and a home generator are completely different things. The house we bought has a home generator. It runs off our propane tank and powers the essentials. It cuts on instantly if power is lost at the main breaker.

Day off and laundry and hanging out with family. Working OT tomorrow and missing my daughters dance class. ? and Sunday watching NFL RedZone and Disney Junior with my daughter. Pretty average weekend.

In Charleston, SC to see my family. Yoga this AM w/ my sis, then headed out on the to get 4 bushels of oysters for a big backyard oyster roast this evening.

Tomorrow brunch downtown (the best shrimp & grits in the World!!), then a Panthers vs 49ers viewing party with friends & family. My dad works for them, so we've always been huge fans

Blind cigars 2&3 on tap for today ?

Whatever I'll end up doing, it will likely be without power - thank you, PG&E ?

What a joke this whole deal is...i live right at the base of mt diablo and the winds go crazy here...but for some odd reason we were not blacked out last time and are not scheduled for this one either...keeping my fingers crossed.

Ah yes - familiar with them, but shied away from the several thousand dollars it would cost to buy and install one. On the other hand, if those shenanigans with our power company continue, I might go for it.
