Silverstix Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Just had an incredible Monte 2 tonight from 2016. I know these mainstays are often passed over for “sexier” cigars but man when they are on like this, they are incredible. Medium-full bodied, mild-medium strength, full flavored cocoa chocolatey goodness. Little bit of pepper on the finish. A draw that’s right in the sweet spot and a burn that requires no touch ups. A solid 92 point cigar for me. What a treat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 4
CampDelta369 Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 That sounds about right. I am going through 2014 box and your description is spot on. I have had a few with morning coffee and all have been 90-92 points. They can be excellent.
Vortigan Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 One of the best cigars I ever smoked was a Monte 2 of unknown age, bought as a single when I was still fairly new and sampling all and every offering. It was like smoking the finest vanilla/chocolate ice cream. I've been chasing that dragon ever since!
david9985 Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Same Vortigan. My first box was a Monte 2 10er. All of them were good but one fitted your description exactly. I had agreed to bring a couple round to smoke with a mate, BBQ etc. I had a stonking headache and would have pulled out but for the fact I knew he was looking forward to it so much. Against my better judgement I fired the Monte up while he was BBQing and on the first draw the vanilla and chocolate was there and the headache disappeared instantly! 1
BeerPimp Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 The first Cuban I smoked was a Monte #2 I got it from a friend so I can't confirm if it was a fake but based on my memory of it and smoking them now I would guess it was real and it was amazing. My first box of CC I purchased was from our host and was a box of Monte #2's. The first one was amazing and most of the box has been really good. I had one that was pretty meh because of the burn. I dry box them when I smoke them and they seem more consistent. I purchased a HQ box later can't wait to try one of those. I will say the Pyramide has been my favorite vitola since I started smoking cigars. As Vortigan so eloquently said I am chasing the dragon. Edit to add I just realized it's been way too long since I have smoked one. 1
CaptainQuintero Posted September 29, 2019 Posted September 29, 2019 Very jealous, I've chased them on and off for around 13 years and still haven't got a good one yet! One day... One day.... 2

I've just fallen foul of the numbers game with them, I love Monte too but that level of production just hasn't been kind to me ?
